SmartAPPetite is a collaborative project funded by the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities, and led by the Human Environments Analysis Laboratory (HEAL) in the Department of Geography at Western University (UWO), the London Training Centre, the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University (WLU), Brescia University College, and the Old East Village Business Improvement Area (OEV BIA).
The HEAL is an inter-disciplinary research lab dedicated to research on public health and the built environment. The London Training Centre is a non-profit award winning social enterprise that provides a wide range of skills and training opportunities with a focus on local food. The Department Geography and Environmental Studies at WLU is an innovative and dynamic department with research in areas of smartphone applications and health geography. Brescia University College has a strong focus on foods & nutrition, offering comprehensive undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare students for internship positions to become registered dietitians. The OEV BIA in London, Ontario, has helped develop what has been called a ‘culinary incubator of innovation’ with extensive experience in community development and a passion for local food.
